Chaves County has initiated an update to the current Chaves County Comprehensive Plan completed in 2016. The planning process will include the review and update of existing conditions and issues; goals, objectives, and implementation strategies; and mapping, as applicable, in the following chapters: County Profile, Public Lands, Land Use, Code Enforcement, Economic Development, Housing, Transportation, Water and Wastewater, and Implementation. The update will focus on local and regional conditions that have changed since 2016, including population, economic, and household characteristics; transportation and infrastructure issues and projects; and other community conditions. It will also include new information about private property rights, renewable energy, natural assets, conservation easements, etc. The update to the Comprehensive Plan will be based on research and analysis, input from a Steering Committee established as part of the update process, public input via a Community Survey, and comments added to this project webpage.
